Topics to include documentation and investigation; past practice and arbitral standards; mid-term bargaining; dealing with management; oral presentation at first steps hearing. This is an online course presented wholly through the UHWO Laulima course delivery system.
The course will provide a general survey of the theories and contemporary practices in the process of public and private Labor-Management Relations. In addition to traditional topics in the field of Labor-Management Relations., such as , labor history and labor law, unfair labor practices, bargaining agreements wage and salary issues, , employee befit issues, job security and seniority, and conflict resolution techniques and process , such as grievance procedures, mediation and arbitration., contemporary challenges and opportunities , such labor-management cooperation and employee teams will also be covered.
Non-Credit Classes, Spring 2009:
PARLIAMENTARY PROCEDURE: 6 sessions. Based on the 10th ed. of Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised. Topics include quorum, order of business, precedence of motions, elections, voting, and minutes. Prepare to take the 100 question membership exam for the National Association of Parliamentarians (NAP). [More Info.] Instructor: W. Puette, Ph.D.
