Copyright at the University of Hawai'i-West O'ahu

The University of Hawai'i distributed its copyright guidelines in 1992 in what has come to be called the "Dratler Copyright Guidelines" after its author Jay Dratler, Jr. The document was sent by Dratler to Edward Yuen, then Director of PPMO, and is dated April 9, 1992. This online copy is in Adobe Acrobat format.


The current text of the Copyright Law of the United States may be found at http://www.copyright.gov/title17/92chap1.html. Limitations to exclusive rights in the Copyright Law may be found at sections 107 (Fair Use) and 108 (Libraries and Archives).


On November 2nd, 2002 The Technology, Education and Copyright Harmonization Act of 2002 (TEACH Act), was signed into law. Kenneth D. Crews, Professor of Law and Director, Copyright Management Center Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis has prepared a summary of the act for the American Library Association.
