Equipment Available at IPA Campus

UHWO has equipment available at the IPA (Island Pacific Academy) Campus in Kapolei to be used for UHWO classes currently held there. The equipment is stored in IPA Room 313 where one of our student tech support person is also stationed during class hours to help set up equipment.

Laptop Computers:

  • There are five (5) Dell Laptop computers housed in a computer cart in room 313 at IPA available for INSTRUCTOR USE ONLY
  • Each laptop is loaded with Microsoft Windows Vista Business Edition, Microsoft Office 2007 Professional along with other miscellaneous software (email Stacey if you have questions regarding software installations)
  • Laptops are all protected by the DeepFreeze software so any changes made to the computers (e.g. software installs, file deletions, etc.) will be undone upon restart--if necessary, files may be saved to the "Student Folder" on the desktop
  • To use a laptop with the classroom SMART Board, you will need a VGA cable to connect the laptop to the LCD projector in the room and a USB cable to connect the laptop to the SMART Board--cables are located inside of the laptop cart
  • There are two (2) extra AC adapters that can be used with the laptops
  • There are five (5) mouses that may be used with the laptops

VCR:

  • There are three (3) VCRs located on the bookshelf along the east wall of room 313 at IPA
  • Each VCR has a set of computer speakers for sound, an extension cord for power, and an RCA cable to allow the VCR to be connected to the LCD projector in each classroom--videos will be projected onto the SMART Board
  • There are remote controls for each VCR

ELMO Document Camera:

  • There is one (1) ELMO document camera located on the bookshelf along the east wall of room 313 at IPA
  • The ELMO has a power cord and an RCA cable to allow the ELMO to be connected to the LCD projector in each classroom--the image from the ELMO will be projected onto the SMART Board

Overhead Projector:

  • There is one (1) overhead projector on a cart in room 313 at IPA
  • The overhead projector has two bulbs in them, if the first bulb burns out, lift the small panel labeled "Spare Bulb" and turn the switch from "1" to "2" and close the panel (you must close the panel or the projector will not work--report any bulb outages to the student tech support person on duty
  • There is a spare bulb (in addition to the one already inside the projector) located in a box on the bookshelf along the east wall of the room

DVD Player:

  • There are no standalone DVD players available at IPA, but each Dell Laptop Computer has a DVD disc drive that can be used to play DVD's
  • Make sure to attach the SMART Board speakers to the computer via its USB cable to get sound

SMART Boards and LCD Projectors:

  • Each IPA classroom is equipped with a SMART Board and LCD Projector
  • You may connect either a computer, ELMO or VCR to the LCD Projectors
  • You may use the SMART Board interactively (as a touch screen) or just as a screen for the projector--if you want to interact with the board, you will need to connect the USB cable to a computer that has the SMART Board software
